Anthropic has launched the Claude Duet app, its first agent‑focused offering, now in research preview for Pro and Max users via a waitlist on iOS, Android and the web.
Anthropic has opened a research preview of Claude Duet, its first consumer‑facing AI agent app. The service is available on iOS, Android and via the Claude.ai web portal, but access is limited to Pro and Max subscribers in the United States who join a waitlist.
Claude Duet positions Claude as a proactive “agent” rather than a passive chatbot. Built on Anthropic’s Opus 5.5 model, the app can initiate conversations, deliver morning briefs and, through more than 6,000 third‑party connectors, act on the user’s behalf in services such as Canva, DocuSign, Stripe’s Link digital wallet and Shopify’s Shop Pay. The agent can also approve actions and make purchases, turning the language model into a functional personal assistant for professionals and small businesses.
The launch marks Anthropic’s entry into the rapidly expanding AI‑agent race, where firms are turning large language models into autonomous tools that can orchestrate workflows across apps. By bundling the capability into existing Pro and Max plans, Anthropic signals confidence that agents will become a core value proposition for paid tiers, echoing similar moves by competitors that are restricting third‑party agents or rolling out dedicated app‑builders.
What to watch next: Anthropic’s timeline for moving Claude Duet out of preview and into a broader rollout, pricing adjustments for the Pro/Max tiers, and how the app’s integration depth evolves as more connectors are added. Competitors’ responses—whether through tighter platform controls or rival agent offerings—will also shape how quickly proactive AI assistants become mainstream tools for productivity in the Nordics and beyond.
