Llama Village, a new virtual world, runs entirely on‑device AI with Llamadart, generating character dialogue in real time.
A new demo called **Llama Village** showcases a fully on‑device virtual world where every line of dialogue is generated locally by a LLM. Built with Flutter and the open‑source **llamadart** package, the 3‑D village lets five AI‑driven llamas live, gossip, hold grudges and react to the player in real time, all without contacting an external server. The creator assembled the experiment by wiring separate local models to handle distinct tasks – one for speech generation, another for memory, and so on – and then let the characters interact in a shared scene.
The significance lies in the combination of cross‑platform Dart support and offline inference. Llamadart can run GGUF‑format models (the same format used by llama.cpp) and LiteRT‑LM models on Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, Linux and the web, keeping prompts on the device and eliminating the need for API keys or cloud latency. For developers, this opens a path to privacy‑preserving, low‑latency game AI that can be deployed to any Flutter app, a capability that has so far been limited to server‑backed solutions.
Llama Village follows a series of recent experiments in embodied AI, from the Multi‑Agent Egocentric World Model and Long‑WAM projects to Google’s own AI‑powered gaming platform reported on 8 October 2026. The next steps to watch are performance optimisation and broader tooling. The author notes that “the game still needs its own performance work and testing on each platform,” suggesting that future releases may focus on scaling model size, reducing memory footprints and integrating richer world‑action models. If those hurdles are cleared, on‑device LLMs could become a standard building block for interactive entertainment across the Nordic tech ecosystem.
