Instagram rolls out AI Assistant to analyze reels and suggest ideas

Instagram unveiled an AI assistant that scans users' Reels and provides suggestions for new content ideas. The tool aims to help creators generate fresh video concepts directly within the platform.
Instagram has expanded the functionality of its standalone **Edits** app with a conversational AI assistant that evaluates a creator’s Reels and offers concrete ideas for future videos. The tool scans performance metrics such as views, likes, shares, follows and video‑retention rates, then cross‑references audience behavior and platform trends to explain why a particular Reel succeeded or fell short. Based on that analysis it can propose hooks, captions, trending audio, scripts and even full‑concept ideas tailored to the creator’s own follower base.
The rollout follows Instagram’s preview of a similar AI video‑editing assistant at its creator event in June, which we covered on 30 September 2026. The new assistant moves beyond generic editing tips, delivering personalized feedback that reflects each account’s historical data and the broader trends shaping short‑form video on the platform. By automating the insight‑gathering step that many creators currently perform manually, Instagram aims to keep its creator ecosystem vibrant and to lock more video production within its own tools, a strategic move as competition from TikTok and emerging AI‑driven editing apps intensifies.
What to watch next: Meta has hinted that the assistant will integrate with other creator‑focused products, potentially linking directly to ad‑revenue dashboards and cross‑platform publishing. Observers will also be looking for data on adoption rates and whether the AI’s suggestions translate into higher engagement or revenue for creators. As the assistant matures, its impact on content diversity and the balance between algorithm‑driven trends and authentic creator expression will be key storylines to follow.
