Apple has restored the compact tab bar in Safari for macOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4, re‑uniting the address field and tab strip into a single, space‑saving bar. The layout vanished with the September launch of macOS Tahoe and iPadOS 26, a move that sparked criticism from users of smaller screens such as the 11‑inch iPad Pro, iPad mini and MacBook Air.
